Hi everyone,
sorry but how do I translate to German?
I'm very interested in the KW/ST for my mx5 rf but can't find much information on them on the US forums, this seems to be the largest group using them. I'm also interested in the Bilstein PSS b14s. I'm in the US so don't have TUV to deal with.
not really interested in lowering the car as much as performance benefits so will probably set to the least lowering. more interested in back road/street performance than all out track or autocross.
does the ST X handle minor road imperfections better being twin tube compared to the stock bilsteins which feel like they are stiff and don't move over expansion cracks and tar patches? how does the Bilstein pss handling compare to the same imperfections?
One of the issues I want to address is the harmonic pitching bounce or porpoising of the original equipment suspension that happens around 75 mph on the interstate over some sections of concrete roadway.
I think this is done to the front to rear bounce frequency ratio being too close at that speed. the KW/STX has a higher bounce frequency ratio so the rear should catch up to the front quicker and not pitch as much
How much does the change to a 6k front spring affect the straight line handling characteristics compared to the 4k springs around 75 mph? could the front be handled with a larger sway bar instead of going to stiffer springs to get the roll couple back to neutral corning?
does the rear have enough spring rate with the 3k ish progressive springs to stay off the bump stops?
How do the STXs compare to the KW V3s? same league or are the KW a step up in handling the springs?
I'm also considering considering the ST XTA and changing springs if necessary. will 6k front 4k rear with the ST dampers feel much stiffer than the stock springs?
I can do the suspension work myself and have free lifetime alignments so changing things isn't difficult.
thanks for your input!
