The ND until 2023, and beyond

The 22 August edition of Automotive News says that Mazda will "freshen" the ND in 2020 and come out with a redesign (the NE?) in 2023. A freshen usually means a tweak or two to the same platform, an interesting body line or hood crease, an interior mod, or maybe a new engine.

It goes on to say that Mazda is committed to the MX-5 and may have a few "limited editions" to "keep the interest up" between now and 2020. Automotive News is a usually reliable trade publication which gets its information from industry insiders.

The magazine lists all manufacturer's incentives up until Sept. 6 and the only Mazda without trunk money is the MX-5. It looks like the reports of heavily discounted Miatas are a result of dealers taking a hit to clear their lots. The factory sure isn't looking to move more of them. When there are too many cars in the pipeline the factory has all kinds of ways to juice sales. They haven't resorted to wheeling and dealing to sell the MX-5. That is a telling statement, but it can mean more than one thing. One thing for certain, it means supply and demand are close to targets.

Das sind doch mal "gute Aussichten"... :)

  • Die Modellreihen laufen i.d.R. 7-10 Jahre. Würde also passen. Vielleicht dann mit Elektromotor? :D<X
