Das sieht ja lecker aus
Japanese car-maker whets appetites of those wanting lighter,
faster, more hardcore MX-5.
Mazda has announced it will unveil not one, but two all-new concepts for the 2015 SEMA show in Las Vegas in early November.
Based on the recently launched, all-new, fourth-generation roadster the new concepts, called the MX-5 Spyder Concept and the MX-5 Speedster Concept, have been made specially for the show.
Releasing only a teasing picture of both cars photoshopped together, the new Speedster is at the top of the pic, while the Spyder, roof-up is below.
Beginning with the MX-5 Spyder, Mazda designers created it to capture the character of a vintage roadster. That’s why inside there’s a bespoke, handmade interior.
More exciting is the Speedster which is, potentially, the lightest MX-5 ever made. Ditching its windscreen for a small fly screen the SEMA concept is supposed to pay homage to a 1950s racing car.
Mazda hasn’t released any information on how light both cars will be other then to say both are “significantly lighter” than the standard car’s 1058kg kerbweight.
Expect Mazda to drip feed more teasing images of both concepts ahead of their official launch on 3 November at the Las Vegas show.
